Rats
Lab group one
*four black and white hoodie boys *born January 2025 *These boys can be adopted in pairs of any combination from group 1 -We recently took in 8 ratties after we were contacted by a local college. They had been used for behavioral testing for the students and needed a safe place to go now that the semester was over. So we took them in here! These boys were very scared at first as they’d only ever lived in small plastic bins alone with only a little bit of bedding, a water bottle and some pellet food. They were very thin and very worried something bad was going to happen to them. They have settled in amazingly here and now come running up for attention and food. They are still a little bit hand shy but none are aggressive, just a little bit nervous initially. They allow handling though they are wiggly and are learning to enjoy scritches! Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html . Adoption fee is $30 for a pair, $45 for a trio. And $55 for a quad.

Chinchillas
Fiona
*female chinchilla *standard gray *About two years old as of April 2025 -Fiona came to us with five other chinchillas that had been owner surrendered to another shelter. She went to foster for a pregnancy watch and to see if she got along with their chinchilla but unfortunately she doesn’t play nice with other chins. She’s timid at first and takes a little bit of time to get used to you but she is very sweet. She is fine with being petted but not a huge fan of being picked up. Chinchillas can live 20 years with proper care! We do not recommend chinchillas for children as they do not make good pets for children under 12. They require a specialized habitat with multiple levels, specific food, and regular grooming care. Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html. Adoption fee is $50 for a single chin, $100 for a pair.
Hamsters: none at this time

Gerbils
Buddy: pending
*single male gerbil *black *Born the beginning of March 2025 -Buddy came to us from down south after he was rescued from a local kill shelter down in VA. Unfortunately small animals are very at risk down there and we work with a rescue that pulls them and gets them up to us and safety. Buddy is a very sweet boy, let me hold him but is a typical gerbil that just wants to explore everything and not sit still! No bite or aggression at all. He’s a sweet baby and just wants to go somewhere and live his best life! Gerbils do best with large gerbil proof either tanks or wire cages that they cannot chew through with lots of chewies, places to climb, and dig, and somewhere to run like a solid bottomed wheel. These are not good pets for small children and do better with older kids or adults. Gerbils can live for many years with good care. Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application on our website here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html. Adoption fee is $20 for a single and $30 for a pair.
