Adoptable rats
Julia and Juliet: featured pets!
**These rats are featured pets so their adoption fee has been fully sponsored to approved homes!!**
*pair of female rats *approximately 1 year old as of 11/24 *Juliet: tan standard and Julia: gray standard. -These girls came in after they were dumped at a kill shelter down south. A great rescue took them in and got them up to us along with a bunch of other lucky animals! These girls are sweeties. Juliet is definitely the more outgoing of the two, but Julia will let you pick her up and love on her. Juliet loves scratches! Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html . Adoption fee is$30 for a pair, $45 for a trio. And $55 for a quad.
Chinchillas
Pippa and Kate
*two female chinchillas *gray *About a year old as of July 2023 -These girls came in with a big group of chins that we got from HAR in Pittsburgh after they were surrendered by someone who couldn’t care for them anymore. Unfortunately they were all living together so we had to hold these girls on pregnancy watch but they are now cleared and ready to find their forever home! They are sweet girls who are timid at first but do well with people if you go slow. Pippa loves to run on her wheel and they love to get dust baths! They will do anything for treats and love to eat hay and oxbow pellets. Just genuinely good little girls who just need a family who will love them for the rest of their life (chinchillas can live 20 years with proper care!). We do not recommend chinchillas for children as they do not make good kids pets for children under 12. They require a specialized habitat with multiple levels, specific food, and regular grooming care. These girls will be adopted out as a pair. Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html. Adoption fee is $50 for a single chin, $100 for a pair.
Margaret and Elizabeth
*two female chinchillas *gray *About three years old as of December 2023 -These girls were originally surrendered to HAR as an owner surrender. At that time they were extremely skinny and Elizabeth had a uterine prolapse. She had to be spayed but she has been fine now and they are ready to find a forever home! Chinchillas don’t do as well in loud shelter situations so they are here to be a bit more comfortable. They are sweet girls who are timid at first but do well with people if you go slow. They love dust baths and are small girls for their age, probably due to their initial malnutrition They just need a family who will love them for the rest of their life (chinchillas can live 20 years with proper care!).
Hamsters
Monica: pending
*orange/red short haired Syrian hamster *Born probably around beginning of 2023 -This sweet girl came up with a group of hams we took from a rescue that pulls animals from kill shelters down south. Monica is a beautiful little girl who likes to play hard to get when you first go to pick her up, but doesn’t mind being held and petted! She’d be good for any kind of family! We recommend large size hamster cages for Syrians (critter trail cages are not sufficient), with lots of activities, things to climb on and chew, and solid bottomed wheels to run on, as well as a good healthy hamster diet supplemented with fresh foods. Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html Adoption fee is $20 for a single hamster.
Phoebe: pending
*tan long haired Syrian hamster *Born 8/25/23 -This sweet girl came up with a group of hams we took from a rescue that pulls animals from kill shelters down south. She was born to one of the adult females they took in. Phoebe is a beautiful little girl who likes to play hard to get when you first go to pick her up, but doesn’t mind being held and petted! She’d be good for any kind of family! We recommend large size hamster cages for Syrians (critter trail cages are not sufficient), with lots of activities, things to climb on and chew, and solid bottomed wheels to run on, as well as a good healthy hamster diet supplemented with fresh foods. Birds
Heidi and Angel
Heidi (female) and Angel (male) are approximately 3 year old parakeets. They came in from an owner who was allergic. They still need some socialization but very friendly. They are a bonded set.
Parakeets are very friendly and active birds. They are social creatures and usually do best in pairs or with intense bonding and socialization with a human. Hand taming requires routine and patience. The easiest way to start the process is by setting a schedule of exposure to you and your voice so they begin to trust you before starting the exposure of your hand! We do recommend someone who is willing to research, and/or experienced in hand taming.
Interested adopters can fill out our adoption application here: https://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html. Must have their own, suitable cage for the birds (we will need to see a picture). Adoption fee is $50 for a pair.
